What comes to mind when you read a headline like this?

Last Friday’s St. Louis Post-Dispatch had this quizzical headline:

Dividing boys, girls grows exponentially

If you’re wondering, it takes a few readings for it to make any real sense. This is possibly a case of an awkwardly placed comma. Paradoxically, Parade Magazine in promoting the very same article used this:

Dividing boys, girls at school grows exponentially

Notice the improvement?
